What the hell is up with cartoons these days? Are they for adults or kids? I can't tell most of the time. Is it Total Drama Island or Total Drama Action? Is it for kids or is it just for elitist hipster twenty-somethings? I don't even know. Same with Drawn Together and Sealab and Metalocolypse and Aqua Teen Hunger Farce and The Venture Brothers and Superjail. There's a cartoon ab
out a jail?!?! Let's face it. The Cartoon Network is not for kids anymore. I mean, it is for kids, but not little kids, like "young adult" kids with horrible music taste and dyed black hair with a layer of bleached hair underneath. So let me get this straight: I'm about to have a child and the one channel they won't be allowed to watch is the Cartoon Network? What kind of backward world are we living in?
And why do all the new cartoons have the shittiest drawing in existence? Here's the rule: If you can't draw, don't become a cartoonist. Because eventually those loser hipsters are going to realize that they are, well, losers and they're going to go get real jobs and become contributing members of society and they won't be watching your cartoon any more. And then you won't have anyone to watch your poorly drawn cartoon, because the hipster fad will be gone and when you are a hipster there is some chemical in your brain that makes things that look or sound like shit, much more appealing.
I digress. I was complaining about cartoons, not hipsters. I wish someone would make some real quality cartoons actually geared towards children. And not this Dora the Explorer crap (newsflash, Dora and Explorer DON'T RHYME). We don't need a bunch of lovey multi-lingual, let's try so hard not to offend anybody that our cartoon becomes useless BS. We don't need a Sesame Street where Snuffleupagus can be seen because everyone is paranoid that their kids will be encouraged to have invisible friends. Who cares?!?! It's called an imagination, maybe if you had one you'd see how horrific these cartoons are! I can't believe that I have to complain about the cartoons.
Where is Tranzor Z when you need him?
Yes, many cartoons are now geared toward adults. If you want to see some of the classics, subscribe to Boomerang on cable. It has The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons, and many of the great cartoons we grew up watching. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHello. I saw your post on the carolla boards and linked to this site. I don't know if you like podcasts in general or if you're just a fan of ace but if you are looking for some other podcasts you should check out www.shoddyradio.com It's not daily but we have about 2 years of archives that you can also get in the itunes store by searching shoddy radio. Anyway if you get a chance to listen we'd love to hear what you think and if not good luck with the cartoon hunt. What's your take on futurama or the simpsons?
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Futurama and the Simpsons. I think they both do a good job of being appropriate for young and old viewers.
